I have made 2 of these adorable sailors. They have stitched up beautifully, and I am looking forward to making more as gifts. My father was a sailor and will put it on my tree as a tribute to him. The directions are easy to follow, especially if you read them. For the 1st one I printed the directions and crossed off the steps as I went. On the 2nd one, I just needed to glance at them from time to time. They progress logically. I used a yarn needle and put the hanger through the seam at the top of the hat, which is an easy way to secure it. I added 2 wooden beads to the holder.
